[Thanks to his flaw when casting magic, Cynric has always been bursting with energy and has never been sick a day in his 1,100 years. But now that it's gone, all sorts of germs have decided he's a fresh new playground! He wakes up with just your run-of-the-mill cold, but, well, this is Cynric. He has no idea what is happening.

Here comes a panicked call to one and all!]

People! Someone! I need help!! [Coughcoughcough.] Oh goodness. Oh goodness. Citizens of Mayfield, my time is short. I do believe I'm dying. If... if someone makes it out of here, tell Luther and Aler--[Sneeze!] Oh my LORD! This is disgusting! Can anything be done about this?! What did I do when the kids were sick.... no! I have no magic now! Does anyone have medicine? Please, before it's too late! [Coughcough]

Never! Healthy as a horse! Good diet and all that! But- [coughs. He turns to you with big eyes.] Do you have anything to take care of this? This is the future after all!

Yes, it is, but...I had someone show me most of the products in the pharmacy, and she never mentioned something that cures colds. Perhaps they are simply left to go away on their own, as they are in my time? [Still, he feels bad - this is the second sick kid who's come to him he couldn't help! - so he makes an effort.] I could make you some tea, perhaps?

I couldn't say. I rarely take ill, myself. [He hands over the tea! It's quite sweet - he somehow suspected Cynric would like it that way.]

That's what sick days are for. It'll take you a while until you feel better -- Don't they have colds where you come from? You get them from being around other sick people or by being out in the cold for too long or just if you're unlucky.

Well I suppose they do, but I never had one! In all my years! [Coughcough] I guess I am just unlucky then. How long do these even last?

I'd say you're really lucky if this is your first time! It takes a few days, depending on how healthy you were before.

I've always been healthy! Never sick a day in my life. How do people put up with this?

They usually do it by staying in bed and sleeping a lot. Try to drink a lot of water.

Sometimes people die of colds, but only if they're really young or really old or really weak. You'll probably be fine.

There're actually a lot of sicknesses that are a lot worse than colds . . .

Then you buy some medicine or go to the hospital. I can come make you feel better, too, if you'd like, but I can't get rid of a sickness entirely.

Well . . . It's PSI, but everyone else seems to think it's magic. You get it back after a while.

Yes! [cough] I was living in the US before I came here, from 1901. And apparently this place is about 50 years in America's future from them, yes? I heard about people coming from different worlds. That's amazing!

I thought so, too, at first, but now that I think about it . . . They're all really pretty similar.
