[Whatever just happened, Cynric's not sure. He woke back up in the *better* town, and he's glad for that.

The other thing he knows is that people were very, very mad at him, as they often are. Being a social pariah was pretty much all he's ever known, and he's used to that. He supposed it was time for him to move again, but it seems like Mayfield still won't let him go.

There is, however, a very large delivery for Cynric in the morning. A 4-foot tall wooden crate, with a pair of scared eyes peering out through the slots. Cyn peeked in.] AH! Hephestus! You're here! Don't worry dear boy, I'll get you out!

[He runs off to the garage, and finds a hammer to pry open the crate. When he does, out jumps a large gray dodo bird! It's flapping wildly and... somehow looks happy? Cynric is thrilled too to see that Mayfield has brought to him one of his favorite creations and pets! But without his magic ability back, he can't speak with his feathery friend. No matter, he'll get it back soon enough and he'll be able to speak with him once again!


Cynric will be spending the rest of the day in the yard, trying to build a home for Heph. There's a pile of 2-by-4s and nails, and he's certainly building.... something, while the dodo happily pecks about the yard.]

Don't worry Hephestus, you'll like it here! Sometimes some odd things happen, and while I'd much rather be at home with the boys, there are certainly worse places to be!

Yes, he is! Dodos grew to be about 3 feet tall.

[Cynric looks at Zevran, and cocks his head.] You look different. Don't tell me: haircut?

Dodos...? Never heard of them. [He studies Hephestus speculatively.] Big enough to be dangerous. Are they?

[At the mention of his changed appearance, he grins, a hand moving up to lightly trace the pointed outer edge of an ear. It's strange how much he missed being an elf, given that the differences were no more than cosmetic and psychological, but...he did.] Keep trying.

[Heph sees a new person approach and happily squawks at him, flapping his stubby little wings. Cynric shakes his head.]

Goodness, no! Heph wouldn't hurt a fly. Dodos went extinct, you know, because they're so docile! Humans showed up and killed them all off. Terrible thing. So I made my own! Lovely creature, really.

[Oh, the ears! Cynric grins.] You've never had those before! Did you? Very nice!

[Zevran grins and extends a hand to the dodo. It seems friendly enough, and he's willing enough to take Cynric's word on its disposition.] Really? I suppose I should feel some kinship, then, though elves are not extinct quite yet.

[He laughs.] And I have always had these...but yes, Mayfield only returned them to me today.

[Heph loves people, so he won't shy way from you. Zevran can pet him if he wants.]

So you're an elf then?! Really! That's fantastic! I don't think you ever mentioned that before.

[Zevran does in fact pet Heph! A surprisingly nice bird for the size, and that club-looking beak.]

Did I neglect to? I did mention it several times when I first arrived, but it became rather depressing to dwell on being human...not to mention unproductive. [He winks at Cynric.] Ah, well; things have markedly improved now.

I don't know. Perhaps! But now I know! That's incredible! No elves where I come from, unless it's something a spellcaster created! Goodness, why did I never create elves?! [He looks positively shocked at himself.]

Oh, indeed! My specialty of course. Creatures, homunculi, that sort of thing! But better than any old summoner. Tough work but quite rewarding!
