[Well Cynric finished his job! Aren't you all so glad you helped him? He's a bit upset that he didn't get any money for it, or even any food at this point, but a job well done is a job well done, at least.

After school that day (of which he may have accidentally wandered away from), he can be seen sitting on his porch, squinting at a piece of paper, trying to decifer its meaning.]


Wonder what this is supposed to be! Second Great War? I don't recall a first one of those... what the in world is a "missile"?

[A shadow looms over him with a particularly grim expression on its face. Susan sure as hell remembers this kid standing around asking for 'enemies of the state' and while she'd ignored it at the time, she sure as hell isn't going to let it slide. Not after yesterday.]

My good Inspector. Do I see you dawdling on the porch when you might be working for the good of our motherland?

[Her voice is like death. Which isn't all that unusual, really.]

Perhaps! Especially since I don't know where this came from. [He tucks it back in his folder. He thinks for another moment.]

What should I be doing then? I finished my job! Should I ask for another?

A fine idea. Failing that, there is always work to be done at the factory. But I'm afraid, you know, that allowing your actions to slide would not be the act of a good citizen. If you truly believed that your time was your own following the completion of a simple job . . . Re-education may be in order, no?

And that scrap of paper . . . Most unsatisfactory. What, exactly, did it say?

Ah, something about a Second Great War, America, missles. Don't understand it one bit. It's a bit ripped and bloody anyway, hard to make out!

Eet looks fairly standard, really, though zhe war referred to is one zhat I've never studied. Perhaps code?

[He grins. Other people were pretty mad at him! And he was a little irked two of the names on the list weren't ones he reported, but oh well.]

Oh! Thank you. I had been asking for a job for awhile now, so I figured it only fair I do it properly.

[ So Klavier had somehow managed to avoid getting executed or hurt because of his failure, so the puzzled prosecutor is now walking around, trying to pretend he's investigating or something. But it was more like just walking around, as he felt quite ill with how the things had suddenly turned out and why he had been allowed to get off with nothing.

And now he hears you speaking of war and missiles! Distraction! ]
