Creation 8

[Whatever just happened, Cynric's not sure. He woke back up in the *better* town, and he's glad for that.

The other thing he knows is that people were very, very mad at him, as they often are. Being a social pariah was pretty much all he's ever known, and he's used to that. He supposed it was time for him to move again, but it seems like Mayfield still won't let him go.

There is, however, a very large delivery for Cynric in the morning. A 4-foot tall wooden crate, with a pair of scared eyes peering out through the slots. Cyn peeked in.]
AH! Hephestus! You're here! Don't worry dear boy, I'll get you out!

[He runs off to the garage, and finds a hammer to pry open the crate. When he does, out jumps a large gray dodo bird! It's flapping wildly and... somehow looks happy? Cynric is thrilled too to see that Mayfield has brought to him one of his favorite creations and pets! But without his magic ability back, he can't speak with his feathery friend. No matter, he'll get it back soon enough and he'll be able to speak with him once again!

Cynric will be spending the rest of the day in the yard, trying to build a home for Heph. There's a pile of 2-by-4s and nails, and he's certainly building.... something, while the dodo happily pecks about the yard.]

Don't worry Hephestus, you'll like it here! Sometimes some odd things happen, and while I'd much rather be at home with the boys, there are certainly worse places to be!

Trainers? Young lady, you have some explaining to do! I've never seen anything like that.

[Meanwhile, he'll approach the pokemon. So will Heph.]

"Uh, sure... what do you want to know?"

[Meanwhile, Pachirisu is curiously sniffing at the end of Hephaestus' beak. Buneary, being the shy type, is currently hiding behind Pachirisu.]

How do you keep them in those little balls? How do you summon them like that? ...What are they called?!

[Heph stares at the new critters, not sure of what they are, then happily squwaks a greeting at them.]

"Uh... they're called Pokemon, and these are Pokeballs. It's where trainers store them when they're traveling around. Some of them are pretty big, so it's more convenient to carry them around like this. I don't really know how Pokeballs work beyond what you just saw... I guess I never really thought about it that much. Professor Oak probably could've told you, but he's been permanently droned."

[Dawn frowns for a moment at that as her Pokemon begin to have an animated discussion with Heph. Which probably just consists of a bunch of squawking, and Buneary and Pachirisu repeating portions of their names over and over.]

How very interesting! Must be magical, I'd wager. Some kind of summoning spell! Very clever to keep them in an easily transportable container like that. Is it comfortable in there? Or maybe it just transports them to another place entirely, using the ball to call them forth! And this is common where you're from? Fascinating!

[Cynric has flashes of cleverness, especially regarding magic, from time to time.]/i>

Magic? No, I'm pretty sure they do this with machines somehow. There's bigger ones that you can use to trade Pokemon with other trainers, or send ones you're not using into storage. You can only carry six with you at a time.

Machines, eh? Leave it to technology! You must be from a very futuristic place then! Sounds like quite a lot of fun.

Maybe? I dunno, it doesn't really feel all that futuristic to me...

Oh, I suppose it wouldn't to you then, eh? You live there.

I guess not!
